When your phone says storage is full, apps cannot update and the camera stops saving photos. Here is how to get space back without losing anything important.
Steps to follow
- See what is using space. Open Settings > Storage to view a breakdown by photos, apps and files.
- Clear app cache. In Settings > Apps, pick a large app, open Storage and tap Clear cache. This does not delete your data.
- Delete old downloads. Open the Files app and check the Downloads folder for installers, PDFs and videos.
- Back up photos, then free up space. Turn on backup in Google Photos, confirm the upload finished, and then use its Free up space option.
- Uninstall apps you do not use. Sort your app list by size and remove the biggest ones you no longer open.
- Clean chat media. Apps like WhatsApp store videos and voice notes. Use the app’s own storage manager to review and delete them.
